At the recent Daily 5/CAFE conference in Ft Worth, a discussion came up about relating the TEXAS Essential Knowledge and Skills to the CAFE menu. A colleague of mine, Lisa, and I started this process for first grade several years ago, and over the last couple of summers, I’ve typed separate menus of the correlations for each grade level. Several attendees at the conference there asked about them, and Gail and Ali said I could share them here on the discussion page.
Just to clarify, these are in no way a Daily 5/CAFE document. They agreed to let me use the format of the menu and add our TEKS, but they will not be published on the website. I have sent these menus to a several of you–the ones posted here are the same.
It really was a learning process for me to dig deep into the reading for each grade level, and I encourage those of you from other states without Common Core to give it a go. Our state standards are being revised and will be updated next year, so I plan to update them, but these will be good for another year, at least :).
