CAFE and MAP Testing

#1

I have been using CAFE for quite some time now- I’m not perfect at it, but I do have some experience with it. I love using it and feel that it is so authentic as compared to any “boxed” type program that a district could buy. A couple of years ago, our district began MAP testing. We are MAP testing in the fall and winter now and the results are studied by administration. I am becoming a bit frustrated as I am not seeing the growth that I feel I should, therefore, leading me to believe that I must be doing something wrong. Has anyone else had this occur? Can someone give me any insight to what is going on? I teach a 4th grade general education class that is in a Title1 building- I feel that I need Gail and Joan to come and personally critique me!!!

Wouldn’t we all love Joan and Gail to come visit? One suggestion I might have to help a bit about ideas and making it all work is the newest CD the Sisters have released. It’s called Daily 5 Up and Running, and features what Daily 5/CAFE look like in 3rd and 5th grade classrooms (as well as a section on Math Daily 3).

You can preview it for free on Stenhouse Publishers site : http://www.stenhouse.com/html/up-and-running-with-the-daily-5.htm. If you haven’t gone there before, you may have to fill out a quick form with your email address, but it’s very easy.

You can also download the study guide there. That might help you decide if this would be a good tool for you.
